Mela at Stanford as a summer research scholar
Congratulations to Mela Coffey, who was accepted into the SURF program at Stanford this summer! (SURF stands for “Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, operating out of the School of Engineering.) She’ll be conducting research in the lab of Dr. Mark Cutkosky, whose lab is named the “Biomimetics and Dextrous Manipulation Laboratory.” I know his lab from their cool work on flying, running, and climbing robots (sometimes in collaboration with Bob Full at Berkeley), but Mela will likely work on a biomedical application of robotics, also an exciting area of research.
